Packing materials are to the moving company as food is to a caffe’. It’s not the only thing that keeps a company ticking over, but without it there would be no company.
In all honesty it is often an aspect of running a moving company that often get’s overlooked, considered a second priority. But in reality it should be a major focus of all removal companies. It seems obvious but you would be surprised at how little consideration the purchasing process of packing material receives.
I have personally seen more packing material than most. I have seen it come from all over the world in containers and airshipments. And I have to admit, the packing material used in the US and the UK is some of the worst on the globe. Surprising isn’t it?
Where do the best packing materials come from?…. South East Asia and Italy. Not to be patriotic or biased (as some of you know I was born in Italy) but I have rarely come across such quality material as the material produced in Northern Italy. Even Swiss and Austrian material manufacturers cannot compare, and they are only a few hundred kilometres away. Why? I cannot say, but I can say that Bolliger makes the most leverage possible out of this fact. We are lucky that we have trucks in northern Italy basically every week. And we already purchase so much material via out Italian operations that we get great pricing.
Curiously, the best packing tape instead comes from Southern Italy. But that is a story for another time.
